Chairman & PD: Robert Atkinson
Location:
Spots: 2 (one 5 yr, one 6 yr)
Reputation: Middle tier university program at community hospital with highly desirable location. Known to prefer locals or applicants with special connection to the islands.
Pros: Strong in sports with lots of Kerlan-Jobe trained attendings. Only major trauma center on all islands. Light call schedule after second yr. Scheduled weekend cases rare. Very tight group of residents and attendings. Small program with no fellows. It’s in Honolulu – enough said.
Final Word: Solid program for hand and sports, OK in others. You would be lucky to get this jackpot combination of both an Ortho program and living in paradise.

Rotation Information: Heavily favors rotators. However, only two residency positions available.
Interview Date:
If you are a student, resident, attending or have recently rotated, please feel free to post any information, additions, changes, or comments.
